From the start, something about a cis white girl establishing herself as “the norm” and shaming “other girls” felt gross to me, although I suppose that was the whole point- the origins of the meme were meant as a parody to mock people who do that. (That’s the impression I got, anyway.) I think that’s also why the ship has picked up so much momentum, everyone on Tumblr can probably relate to that elitism and shaming that goes on here. Except this takes those personifications and makes them kiss? Everyone wins?
I don’t really get how this got so big. I am just really happy to see a girlxgirl ship become “mainstream” for once. Feels good man. <3
